Fireside Chat

by Erin

The new fire pit.
I am touring Nebraska this week to visit the fam.  Fortunately the weather took a turn for the lovely and we are now enjoying 70 degree weather!  It is delightful.  Last evening my dad indicated that a fire was in order, and Mom and I agreed.  There is something about a hot fire and watching the embers flicker and glow from the heat.  It puts you in a bit of a trance. We did our campfire up right with some camp songs, Little Cabin in the Woods, as well as some gooey s'mores.

Mom and Dad roast the marshmallows to perfection.

I also amped up the idea of "campfire songs" and proved to my mom that I know all the words to the movie Grease, excluding Hopelessly Devoted to You (sorry Sandy that song is a total bore), by singing all the hits.  I think my renditions were very impressive, especially in this sweet head scarf.  I bet you wish you were here, huh?

Head scarf.
Are you enjoying an unseasonably cool week this week?  If so, how about a fire?  I suggest you check your city ordinances first, no need for those pesky policemen.  Chicago seems to approve of these babies.  Or you could create you own like my Mom and Pops.  They just got some bricks and a fire ring.
