Saying Goodbye to Lincoln . . . and hello to Rochester!

by Leslie

This post has been in the works for a while.  I mean, I've been thinking about it for a while.  I had some grand ideas about what to do for it.  Most everything I thought of seemed a bit hokey and staged.  So, in the end, I didn't really do anything--because  how do you say goodbye to one town?  A town you lived in for a long time . . . and that you are going to miss greatly?  I thought about taking pictures at all my favorite places in Lincoln, but that kind of takes away the joy that you have going there one last time.  So obviously, I didn't do that.

So I don't have any great photos for you, but I just want to say, Lincoln, I'm truly gonna miss you.  I'm going to miss my friends there, the cheap cost of living, the restaurants, the bookshops, and most of all, being only a couple hours away from my family.    Oh, and maybe this, too:

But . . . moving isn't all bad.

Because we are moving to kind of a fun place, I think.

So far, Rochester, MN seems pretty good.  We've only been here a week, but I think things will be fine.  We have a nice apartment, convenient shopping and restaurants, and a lot of exploring ahead of us.

I am interested to see if we will have much luck finding:

1. enjoyable locally owned restaurants

2.  favorite walks and bike rides

3.  nearby places to take weekend adventures

4.  wonderful friends

So, all you Rochester folks that are hiding in the woodwork, come on outta there!  We want to meet you!

So, without further ado, I'll end this little farewell.  And you had better keep in touch, Nebraska!  So check this blog often, and comment, too.  I want to hear from all of you!

So long, Lincoln!  Hello, Rochester!
