Fresh Weekend Manicure

by Leslie

It's Friday.  That's right.  The week is over, the weekend is here.  It is time to have some fun!  Whether you have big plans for this weekend, or you plan on staying in, this manicure idea is sure to brighten up your fin de semana.

I got the idea for this manicure from Lauren Conrad's blog.  She has lots of style tips and fashion ideas that are cute and fresh.  I've never actually read her blog before, but thanks to a photo posted on Pinterest, I am discovering all sorts of new inspiration.

Lauren's manicure looked a lot like my finished product, only her glitter was a bit more blingin'.  I liked my glitter because it gives a subtle sparkle.  So, here's how you do it.

Gather up the usual suspects.  A base coat, a nice nude color, your super-concentrated glitter polish, and a top coat.  Don't forget the base and top coat.  You'll want this to last!

I use Sally Hanson Diamond Strength No Chip Topcoat, OPI Nail Lacquer in "Makes Men Blush", Jordana Pop Art glitter in silver, and some generic brand of topcoat from a beauty supply store.  Remember that for your glitter polish, you want the glitter concentration high!  I actually really recommend this brand (which you can find at most drug stores) because it also has a super skinny brush.  Perfect for the French tips!
I don't have a step-by-step for the polish, but you know how it goes.  One layer of basecoat, two thin layers of color, some very careful tips with the glitter and a couple layers of topcoat to seal the deal.

It really looks fab when you're done!

I do have one "professional tip for you.  If you want to make your polish last for a long time, don't let your polish touch your cuticle.  If you leave a microscopic gap between the cuticle and the polish, it won't chip off as your cuticles bend and flex (or whatever it is they do).

Alright!  Now off with you!  Do something special with your weekend!
