Oh, you wanted to see them?

I guess I could have left you with a picture to make your mouth water, so I will.

That's right, folks.  These are the s'mores cookies I wrote about last week.  Don't they just look delectable?  I've got to give it to whoever wrote this recipe.  These are amazing.  A nice soft cookie with a perfectly "done" look to them.  I took them to a family gathering and they were gone before everyone got one (sorry about that, Derek).

I might add that they are huge.  I didn't even make them as big as recommended!  I made them a bit smaller so I could share the love.

They are gone and have been gone for a while now, so looking at this picture is not a good thing for me.  Not at all.  I wonder if I have enough butter...

Here are some "in progress" shots of the cookie making process.  I did my best not to partake in any dough.

You want s'more? I do.

That's right, folks.  There's s'more things to do with s'mores.  After my sister turned me on to mybakingaddiction.com, I happened upon the delightful s'mores cookies she had made.  After seeing them, I was like, "that's too much.  S'more overload.  There is no way I'm making those."

I made them for the second time tonight.

Delectable.

I am going to have to take them to school tomorrow because they are too much.  They're not overly sweet, it's just that I can't say no to their soft, gooey aura.  It's a fact.  Put marshmallows on something and I'm 149% more likely to eat it.  Check it out.

Baby Steps to sewing success!

Hello all,

I'm at home for the WHOLE weekend for the first time in (get this) two months. It feels great! I've spent the whole morning cleaning, washing, and scrubbing our house. Unfortunately, the surface looks no different than it did before. I will just have to rely on the knowledge that it is "deep" clean.

That'll work for the time being. Maybe it will help me ignore the piles of books in my bedroom. Or the stacks of mail on my side table. Or the dried on wax on my fireplace mantle.

Maybe.

Anywho, there is news on the home front. A month ago, my sister had a sweet little baby girl named Ella Jane. She is soooo cute and snuggly! We are in love with her. I had been planning projects since we found out that Laura was having a baby. A blanket was one of the first things on my list--and the last thing that I actually made.

I didn't start the blanket until after Ella was born, which actually turned out to be a good thing because I could put her name on it! I already had the fabric for it--yellow flannel with blue and white polka dot flannel on the reverse. I embroidered her name on it in pink. It turned out pretty good. I tried a new embroidery stitch--the backstitch. Apparently it is one of the most common stitches, but when you are teaching yourself--sometimes you do things backward!

Here is an "in progress" shot. I did this in the car on the way to see her for the first time!

I also included a shot of my first-ever sewing project--a needlebook. All it was was one straight line down the middle. Done! I think I got a purple at the fair on that one. Might have been my only purple.

And what is that other picture of? Hmmm. Don't know.

For some reason I didn't take a picture of the finished blanket. I guess we'll have to wait until the winter time when baby EJ is snuggled up with it! I thought the embroidery turned out well, but the blanket itself is as crooked as can be. It was obvious what I spent my time on, that's for sure.

Later this weekend, I'll let you know what I've been whipping up in the kitchen. In fact, I think I want to whip up another batch right now. Delectable!

Back to School...

If you haven't noticed, it's been a while since my last post. Let me explain why. 100 eighth graders. That's why. I am back in school and therefore have been living in a world of driving, sleeping, grading, and teaching for the last three weeks. But I can't live in that world forever. You have to step out every once in a while. So that's what I'm doing. I'm back to give you an update of the test nest tests that I have been working on.

To get ready for school I needed to do some things to spruce up my room. My classroom looked great from the previous teacher, but the blue sheers on the window had to go! So I decided to make a valance. It only took about a yard and a half of fabric. I got it on sale at The Calico House here in Lincoln. Cute little stripes. My mom gave me a few pointers and I whipped it right up. Turned out pretty good, if you ask me.

I thought the stripe would appeal to all. One person noticed in my class, and that was enough!

I also made a little bulletin board display to keep my kids in the spirit of staying on track. The A-Team stopped by to help me out.
